Upcoming Events

  • Wednesday, May 6 from 2-3pm

As the country enters yet another week of lockdown, what is the mood amongst the leaders of Britain’s pub, restaurant, bar and café companies? How widespread are concerns about furloughed staff, Government payments, loans and rent?

And what else is on the minds of operators? Is it too early to start planning for a post-lockdown return to business? How many are already mapping out options?

These are some of the vital questions that we asked recently in our CGA Business Confidence survey, run in conjunction with technology specialists Fourth. For the first time, we’re sharing these critical findings as widely as possible to help leaders across the country, from big corporates to small start-ups share one voice about the eating and drinking out industry.

Ten takeaways from CGA’s Course to Recovery webinar

As the out-of-home sector works towards a potential reopening from early July, this CGA webinar focused on the key factors that will influence how plans for rebooting hospitality will evolve and adapt to a changing trading landscape. The ‘Resetting the Course to Recovery’ session, run with insight partner Wireless Social, set out the on-trade, consumer and economic dynamics that all operators and suppliers will need to react to and track—and explored what the ‘new normal’ might look like. Industry stepping up plans for a depleted market post-lockdown

The latest CGA Business Confidence Survey reveals that operators remain deeply pessimistic about both market prospects and the future of their own businesses, with a third (32%) of senior executives anticipating the need to permanently close pub, bar and restaurant sites. Most businesses across Britain’s eating and drinking-out market are now actively engaged in planning for life after lockdown – although the majority of bosses are not expecting to reopen until June or July, if allowed, and then taking a phased approach. The poll of over 120 senior executives and entrepreneurs was conducted by CGA, in association with hospitality technology specialist Fourth, during the week beginning April 20.
