Spotlight on: Working Families Policy
CGA aims to be an employer of choice and as such, we offer more than the Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP). All pregnant employees are entitled to take up to a total of 52 weeks maternity leave and our enhanced policy pays up to 20 weeks of maternity, adoption and shared parental leave. (Note: this parental option requires at least one year of continuous service with CGA by the 15th week before the expected date of a child's birth or adoption placement.)
A day in the life
“What I love most about being part of a client service team is that no day is the same – I could just as easily be spending the day meeting with clients in London as I would be working alongside my colleagues in the office. Being part of the hospitality industry means we often end up in the major city hubs in the UK, and it’s great to spend time exploring new foods and drink trends.
It’s important we have our fingers on the pulse, so I’m always reading what is happening in the market, what new places are opening and trying to unearth the latest food and drink trends.”
“I started at CGA five years ago, I joined the data preparation team which then consisted of just four team members; today we’re a team of over 15. I love being part of such a fast-growing company with a hunger to be the very best. Since starting I have worked on three of the five teams within the information services department. I have been given excellent training opportunities and gained invaluable knowledge which enabled me to be promoted to Dictionary Manager.
I’m now situated on the US team, and it feels like the sky’s the limit. Exploring a completely new market, which has no sign of slowing down is exciting; and when you enjoy market as much as I do there really is nothing better than working so closely with it!”
"My first contact with CGA is as a temp helping out the Data Preparation team. Even as a temp I noticed the atmosphere was positive, everyone was friendly and worked as a team. I knew straight away that CGA is the place I want to work at. Being part of Data Preparation means working hard to make CGA lives up to being ‘Phenomenal Data. Expert Insight’.
My skills in CGA are consistently being developed and training occurs to make sure I play to my strengths and improve my weaknesses. All the hard work pays off too—holidays, social events and an awesome Christmas party. Being a consumer in the food and drinks industry was fun, but being able to contribute to the industry is even better."
I saw the CGA advert on Graduate Prospects and it stood out to me as the perfect job for someone who wanted to learn and grow new skills in a professional environment and in a technical role. I have worked in the International and GB department across three different countries, which gave me the chance to meet and speak to so many wonderful people and develop so many skills beyond those I envisioned at the start. CGA is always growing, challenging and succeeding in areas where many have failed and due to this, there are countless chances to excel and take ownership. I am excited for all the challenges ahead and skills I have yet to learn because there are so many opportunities to do this within not just my team, but across the business.
Our charity partners
Action Against Hunger
In January 2019, we announced our official charity partner, Action Against Hunger, as chosen by our employees. Action Against Hunger is a global humanitarian organisation committed to ending world hunger. The organisation helps malnourished children and provides communities with access to safe water and sustainable solutions to hunger.
As part of our ongoing partnership, we’ve set ourselves the challenging goal of raising £14,000 this year. These funds will enable us to help end life-threatening hunger for good within our lifetimes.
Tim Bacon Foundation
The Tim Bacon Foundation was founded in memory of legendary north-west based restaurant and bar entrepreneur Tim Bacon, who was the founder of Living Ventures and famous spin-offs The Alchemist, New World Trading Company and Gusto, to name a few. Sadly, Tim died of lymphoma back in 2014 and since then The Tim Bacon Foundation has been raising money for causes aiming to end the tragedy of cancer, support people living with cancer and help families affected by cancer. We at CGA have supported the Foundation since its inception and most recently took part in the Great Manchester 10K run, raising a grand total of £871 towards the charity.
