D&D London has announced 17 restaurants in London, Leeds and Manchester will reopen on July 4 for dine-in customers. Increased spacing between tables, enhanced cleaning protocols and electronic menus are among the measures to be implemented to keep both staff and consumers safe.

London based Venezuelan restaurant Arepa & Co is opening for collection and delivery this week, with plans for second site to reopen in early July.

Drive-thru lanes, Takeaway and McDelivery are back at McDonald’s, with limited numbers of customers allowed into 11 of the 29 Roadchef sites and one-way systems in place to facilitate social distancing.

Oakman Inns has announced plans to reopen all pubs on July 4, unless the government intervenes. “It would irresponsible for us to delay as we would be putting jobs at risk. To open without proper forward planning would also be wrong. We cannot wait for the government to make a decision,” said Oakman Inns founder Peter Borg-Neal.

Manchester gets a new barbecue joint; London-based The Blues Kitchen

London-based barbecue and live music restaurant brand The Blues Kitchen is to open in Manchester following the acquisition of the former Walkabout on Quay Street. Blues Kitchen is inspired by the southern states of America and will bring a combination of blues music, bourbon, and barbecue.

Honest Burgers has opened the second Honest Chicken site in London offering contact-free delivery through Deliveroo and UberEATs from June 17, following the successful reopening of 27 out of their 37 sites across the UK.

Pret a Manger has begun trials of a click and collect service at five sites across London, following the reopening of over 300 sites across the UK for collection and delivery.

Fast-casual Mexican restaurant Tortilla has launched a new click and collect service on their website which has been rolled out to all sites already open, plus the Birmingham and Oxford locations, which reopened this week.

Following the successful reopening of all drive-thru sites over the last few weeks, Costa Coffee has opened 131 more stores for takeaway orders, bringing the total number of stores open for collection to 658.

Gregg's has implemented robust new measures to ensure the safety of its customers.

Greggs has reopened all 800 sites on June 18 with clear signage for customers to aid social distancing and increased hygiene measures in place. Only one adult per household will be allowed in the shop.

Lebanese and Mediterranean restaurant operator Comptoir Libanais has reopened Gloucester Road site in London for takeaway and delivery through UberEATS and Deliveroo.

Wrapchic has reopened four sites across the South East and Birmingham for delivery and takeaway, with a phased reopening planned for the remainder of the 18 strong estate.

D&D London has begun to open sites for collection and delivery via Deliveroo, including the Bluebird in Chelsea and German Gymnasium in King’s Cross, with reduced opening hours and a limited menu.

Creams dessert parlour has announced plans for QR code menus and payments at table as part of safeguarding measures for dine-in customers, as well as compostable single-use cutlery to encourage customers back when doors can reopen.

Some brewers have started brewing in preparation for getting beer into pubs before the planned reopening on 4th July. However, with no guarantee from the government that this deadline is still being met, this is somewhat of a gamble.

Boston Tea Party is planning to reopen a further 10 sites this week, following successful trials at the Bristol and Birmingham sites last month.

Cairn Group has launched a new Californian street food takeaway restaurant, The Fable, in the North East.

Greene King has announced a £15 million investment in their “Pub Safe” initiative, aimed at keeping staff and customers safe while “maintaining the atmosphere of the Great British Pub.” The comprehensive plans include Perspex screens at bars, increased space between tables and dedicated member of staff responsible for ensuring enhanced hygiene measures are met.

Dirty Martini has launched an online shop with a selection of five flavoured martinis priced at £22.50 for a four serving bottle available for next day delivery across the UK.

The UK’s first socially distant restaurant, The Anti-Social Club, is due to open in Cornwall’s St Moritz’s Hotel & Spa on 4th July with 16 private dining booths and a maximum of 96 covers.
