New openings round-up

Farmer J has set 15 September for the opening of its latest new restaurant on Finsbury Square in the City. Farmer J’s three other locations are on Canada Place, Leadenhall Street and King William Street. It recently received investment from Imbiba.

Nando’s is to open at Anchor Retail Park in Hartlepool after taking on a unit previously occupied by Frankie & Benny’s, local media report. It has submitted plans for changes to the building, and a council decision is due in late September.

Middle Eastern coffee brand Barafat is to open its first international location on Warwick Street in Soho shortly. It will have a patisserie and a dessert bar as well as coffee and tea.

Pizza concept Zia Lucia is to open a pasta bar called Berto next door to its site on Holloway Road in London. It will launch in the next few weeks. Zia Lucia has restaurants in Hammersmith and Boxpark Wembley as well as Holloway Road.

Bistrot Pierre will open at the Wish Tower in Eastbourne in November, local media report.

Thai street food brand Zaap will open in York in September. It will be a fourth site for the group, after Leeds, Nottingham and Newcastle.

The Pub People Company will open a Six Barrel Drafthouse pub and restaurant in Nottingham shortly. It opened its first Six Barrel Drafthouse concept in the Hockley area of Nottingham in 2016. The new venue is a Star Pubs & Bars site on Mansfield Road that was previously run as an Irish pub called Keogh’s.

Salford brewery Seven Bro7hers is to open a second Beerhouse venue at the Middlewood Locks development in Manchester in October. It will have around 100 covers, and joins the brewery’s first Beerhouse in the Ancoats area of Manchester.

American-style barbecue concept Prairie Fire will start a six-month residency at the London Fields Brewery in Hackney from September. There will be suggested beer-and-barbecue pairings.

Tortilla will open on Market Square in Cambridge in late September, according to local media.

Camerons Brewery has acquired a site for its Head of Steam pub brand—a 7,500 square feet former bank building on Park Row in Leeds. It will become the third Head of Steam venue in the city and the 16th branch in all when it opens in the next few weeks.

Bristol burger restaurant Dirty Burgerz is to open a second site in the city, in the Stokes Croft area. The group has a restaurant in Swansea as well as another in Bristol, in Staple Hill.

Craddock’s Brewery is to open a not-for-profit bar called The Good Intent at Great Western Arcade in Birmingham in the autumn. Profits from the 3,200 square feet venture will go to charities. The launch costs were paid for through a crowdfunding campaign.

Street food concept Black Bear Burger is to open a permanent location on Market Row in Brixton. It has previously operated via residencies at venues including Boxpark Shoreditch, Broadway Market and Giant Robot, and also provides deliveries.
