Politics in flux: what it means for hospitality?

With Brexit uncertainty as strong as ever, EU regulations still coming on stream and a new prime minister taking power this summer, it’s hard for businesses to plan with any confidence. UKHospitality CEO Kate Nicholls will attempt to cut through the political and legislative confusion when she joins the speaker roster at this year’s CGA Future of Finance seminar later this month.

Nicholls will focus on the big issues likely to hit the agendas of CEOs, CFOs and sector investors in coming months – and will be taking questions when she addresses the invitation-only event at 30 Euston Square, London, on the afternoon of Thursday 20 June. So book your place now.

Also speaking will be Loungers’ CEO Nick Collins, who will talk about the group’s decision to IPO and what that means for the future of the business. Collins will be in conversation with CGA vice president and event chairman Peter Martin discussing how the process went, what he and the senior team learned, how things have changed, if at all, and whether the stock market should be home for more hospitality operators.

In addition, Niels Lorijn of Capdesia, the London-based private equity house, which is focusing on investing in next-generation foodservice, will explain why it is backing the continued growth of Wasabi, the now international on-the-go-food brand. Davis Coffer Lyons director Trevor Watson (pictured below) will also be on hand to discuss the current forces at work in the UK property market.

Taking the risk out of growth and targeting the right places to open and invest in will be big themes at this year’s event.

The exclusive invitation-only seminar will bring together CEOs, business founders and investors with CFOs, property directors and non-execs to discuss the hot topics impacting the future health of the restaurant, pub and bar world. CGA’s expert team, headed by directors Karl Chessell and Graeme Loudon, will be on hand to fuse its unrivalled data sources to identify the places and people to target for growth, diversification and possible contraction in this ultra-competitive market.

At the heart of Future of Finance will be issues around supply and demand. With the casual dining sector reaching saturation point, how far will it contract? Is the recent resurgence of pubs temporary or permanent? Which towns, cities and segments still have headroom for growth? How are changes in cuisine tastes and drinking habits affecting consumer spending? And what are the data tools needed to track and predict these shifts in the market?

These are just some of the questions that Future of Finance will set out to answer. CGA’s team will be drawing on its location and due diligence capabilities to show brands how to evaluate the size of the prize, identify the gaps in the market and better understand their target consumers.

The full speaker programme will be unveiled shortly.

Future of Finance is supported by Caterer.com, Coffer Corporate Leisure, Fourth, Freeths, Odgers Berndtson, RSM and Zonal, and takes place at 30 Euston Square in London on Thursday 20 June. Learn more and request a free place here.
