Cocktail bar Be At One has opened a new venue in Chelmsford. Managing director Andrew Stones said: “We’ve been looking to launch a bar in Chelmsford for a number of years and the fact that it aligns with us becoming part of Stonegate, and the many benefits that brings, is incredibly exciting.”

Miller & Carter and Zizzi are both shortly opening new restaurants within the Genting Hotel at the Resorts World development in Birmingham. They join brands already operating at the scheme including Nando’s, TGI Fridays and Las Iguanas.

All-day farm-to-fork concept Farmer J is opening a second site on King William Street in the City on 3 September. It joins the original Farmer J on Leadenhall Street. Founder Jonathan Recanati said: “It’s time for Farmer J to plough the next field, so we’re looking forward to opening our new home on King William Street. Our ethos will remain the same—respecting our fantastic produce and cooking real food with sustainable, seasonal ingredients.”

Brazilian rodizio brand Fazenda is opening a fifth restaurant on Colmore Row in October. Its four other sites are in Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool and Edinburgh.

New World Trading Company will open a branch of its Botanist cocktail bar and restaurant brand in the Brewery Quarter in Cheltenham. It has acquired a 6,500 square feet site and will launch before the end of the year. Chief executive Chris Hill said: “Cheltenham is a fantastic location for us to open, and the Brewery Quarter felt a natural choice.” The venue will open in the autumn.

Chop’d has opened a new store within Selfridges’ Manchester store. It is a second site in the city for the brand, and a third opening in partnership with Selfridges.

Loungers has applied for permission to open a Cosy Club bar and restaurant at Mermaid Quay at Cardiff Bay, local media report. It wants to take on a unit previously occupied by Strada.

Cecconi’s, the Italian restaurant brand operated by Soho House, will open on Whitby Street in Shoreditch in September. It will be part of Soho House’s new Redchurch Townhouse. Cecconi’s has two other sites, in Mayfair and at the Ned development in the City.

Young’s has launched The Naturalist, its new-build pub and restaurant at the Woodberry Down development from Berkeley near Finsbury Park.

Stonegate Pub Company opens a branch of its Popworld nightclub chain in Manchester on Friday (24 August). It is launching on Whitworth Street West after a £430,000 investment in the site.

Caprice Holdings is to launch a new all-day venue called Harry’s Bar at St Christopher’s Place on James Street in Marylebone in October. The 150-cover site will serve Italian wines, cocktails and small plates, and will be a sister site to Harry’s Dolce Vita in Knightsbridge. Pizza brand Homeslice has also signed an agreement to open at St Christopher’s Place.

Italian steakhouse operator Macellaio RC is to open its fifth London restaurant on Store Street in Bloomsbury. Macellaio RC launched its first site in Kensington six years ago, and now also has restaurants in Bankside, Exmouth Market and Battersea, as well as Milan. It has been brought to Bloomsbury by the Bedford Estates.

BrewDog has lined up an opening in Carlisle. It has picked up a unit previously occupied by an amusement arcade.

Grosvenor Pubs, a new pub operator launched by Jason Myers and David Ramsay, has secured its first site: the Cricketers Inn in Pirbright in Surrey. Myers is the former chief executive of Busaba Eathai, and Ramsay is chairman of Soulfood Enterprises.

Philippines-based fast-food brand Jollibee is to open its first UK restaurant on Earls Court Road in London in the autumn. The concept specialises in fried chicken with gravy and has ambitions to open elsewhere in the UK as well as around Europe. It has taken over a unit previously occupied by Wagamama on Earls Court Road, close to a large Filipino population.

Genuine Liquorette, a New York-style cocktail bar offering experiences including masterclasses and build-your-own drinks, is opening on Rathbone Place in Fitzrovia in September.

Giraffe is to open a restaurant at Malaga Airport under a franchise partnership with Lagardere Travel Retail. More openings in Spanish airports are due to follow. The Malaga site will open later in the year, and will have a bar and grab-and-go offer as well as a restaurant. Judd Williams, international development director at Giraffe’s parent Boparan Restaurant Group, said: “Already a favourite with air travellers in the UK and Dubai, we are delighted to be bringing Giraffe to new customers in Malaga Airport. This will be our first operation in Spain and is an exciting next step for the brand in line with our strategy to grow our presence in international airports.”
