Tim Bacon Foundation launches with call for support

A charitable foundation set up in memory of legendary industry entrepreneur and Living Ventures’ co-founder Tim Bacon is up and running following generous pledges from across the industry.

Plans for the Tim Bacon Foundation were first announced by Tim’s co-founder Jeremy Roberts at the CGA Peach 2020 Conference in November. Pledges of support have flooded in since then, many of them from individuals in the sector whose careers have been helped or influenced by Tim, who died last year after a battle with cancer. Those backing the Foundation have included Brasserie Blanc’s Mark Derry, New World Trading Company’s Chris Hill, Hawksmoor’s Will Beckett, The Alchemist’s Simon Potts, Ego’s James Horler, Gusto’s Sue Crimes and Blackhouse’s Scott Grimbleby. All have become inaugural Friends or Ambassadors of the Foundation.

More pledges of support are now being invited from those who are learning about the Foundation for the first time. Companies may also consider adopting it as their nominated charity through 2017. Charitable events planned for 2017 include a special dinner sponsored by Living Ventures and taking place in its various restaurants in Manchester city centre. It will be followed by a ‘Dream the Impossible’ party at a secret location with some very special entertainment.

Details of how to back the Foundation and get involved in the May event can be found on its website at www.timbaconfoundation.co.uk, or by emailing Jeremy Roberts at jeremyroberts@livingventures.com.

The Tim Bacon Foundation will support various cancer charities, with the first appeal backing fundraising work by The Christie Hospital and University College London for proton beam therapy centres in Manchester and London and Maggie’s Centres, which provide practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their families and friends. The Foundation has set out to raise £500,000 over the course of 2017.
