The online B2B publication Festival Insights has released the debut edition of the Festival 250 – its listings of the world’s top 250 festivals in terms of commercial success.
Launched in association with online ticketing marketplace, StubHub, the project will be renewed annually and features information on each of the events’ respective histories and unique characteristics.
The data used to determine the rankings was sourced and analysed by the renowned business intelligence consultancy CGA Strategy during the 2015 season, and was based on such metrics as duration of the event, estimated ticket revenue, capacity, and sponsorship estimates.
Next year’s edition promises to maintain the same format, but will also demonstrate whether festivals have moved up or down in the league table.
